Numbers matter
What if accounting and tax were easy?
Numbers matter.
For as long as I can remember math was my favorite subject. Something about numbers grabbed me and they’ve never let go.
When I realized I could make a career out of working with numbers and solving math problems it seemed too good to be true.
That was 20 years ago and still feel the same way.
That doesn’t mean it was easy. When I moved here from South Africa I felt like a fish out of water. My whole life changed but one thing didn’t change a bit. My passion for numbers.
Soon I had my Masters Degree in accounting and I was off to the races. The first half of my career was spent working for big firms doing big things. Or so I thought.
My experience with big firms is that the relationship with the customer is like speaking to someone on a conveyor belt. They never stop long enough, you wish you could do more for them but you are constantly reminded that time is money.
That style of business didn’t agree with me.
Slowly, I began to build a small practice. After years of saving, I was finally ready to go into business for myself, and I haven’t regretted the decision for a single minute.
My partner and I specialize in what we like to call plain English accounting. That means clear communication, zero surprises, and a real commitment to delivering consistent results.
We’re growing, and our clients refer us because this strategy works. Instead of impersonal service that nobody really wants, we put ourselves in the client’s shoes and work from that perspective.
People appreciate that.
When you search for accountants in the area you’ll learn we have a lot of competition. You’ll also learn we’re not the biggest, we don’t advertise and we don’t promise rock-bottom prices.
So why are we growing?
That one you’ll have to find out for yourself.
Sincerely,

“When I left the big firm, everyone thought I was crazy.”

Ask Phil︱Tax
Yes. We have a popular program that lets you gift your employees yearly, filling services and practices of all sizes, really love it.
If it’s possible, we can do it. In plain English, we’ll explain what’s deductible and what credits you qualify for. Then we’ll give you a simple way to capture everything so we can make the most out of your next return.
Take it seriously and respond quickly. Forfeitures, seizures, and fines come next. With your permission, we can speak with the IRS on your behalf and put together a plan that makes sense. Don’t wait. Don’t ignore notices. The IRS doesn’t forget.
That depends on whether you’re filing as an individual, or business, or both. Each type has its own set of rules and limits. Once we understand your situation, we can make clear recommendations so your next return can be your best return.
Before anyone can answer that, we need to make sure your setup is proper for your situation. Many expenses can be deducted as long as they are directly related to your business. Every year, there are new changes to these deductions, and our job is to make sure you understand in plain English what’s deductible and what’s not.

No matter what software you’re using, we can help as long as we can get access either via the cloud or a direct remote connection.
Yes. But why? Our job is to get you the best results for a fair price. Your job is to be as organized as you can so we can focus on what’s important. The good news is that most software is inexpensive and easy to use. If you’re not using anything now, we’ll make a suggestion you can live with and make sure you know how to use everything.
We’ll make sure you can run payroll in a few minutes, and we’ll take care of your taxes, withholdings, and other details so you can focus on business. If you have a system already, we’ll double-check to make sure it’s set up properly, and if you need a system, we’ll make a suggestion that makes sense for your situation.
Sure, no problem. We’ll get you caught up and put a plan in place so that it doesn’t happen again. If you have outstanding liabilities, we’ll prioritize them and make a realistic schedule that satisfies everyone, even the IRS.

Do we come to your office?
Sure, our offices are in McAllen, Texas but we have clients all over the country. We can take care of you as long as your online but that doesn’t mean you can’t stop by anytime. If you do we happen to like all varieties of cookies and donuts.
In many cases, an LLC makes perfect sense, but in others, it’s not the best choice. Take us up on our free call, and we can make a real recommendation and not a guess.
You might be. We’ll need to understand the details before we can make suggestions. We can tell you that over the years, we’ve met hundreds of individuals and companies that were not set up the right way, and they wound up paying for an expensive lesson from the IRS.
Yes. The money you’ll spend to untangle personal and business expenses from a combined account is wasted money. We’ll suggest an account structure that will make both of our lives easier and eliminate wasted time.
You can draw a salary, or you can take a periodic distribution depending on your situation. In some circumstances, both make sense. We’re here to understand your situation and get you set up in a way that allows you to get the most benefit from your hard work.
